What is the best career advice you ever received?

Be kind, work hard, and be yourself.

Why did you choose your profession?

I get to lead an organization that I was foremost a fan of. For me having passion and enthusiasm for what I do is important. It’s what drives me every day and keeps me going when times get tough. I’ve never worked harder than I do now, but it’s never been as rewarding.

What motivates you to give back to your community?

Giving back connects me to my community. Moving to Concord in my 20s, I discovered a culture of volunteerism and philanthropy in a city full of people giving whatever they could — money, time, talent. I was inspired to get involved and found opportunities to give back in any way I could. Giving back gave me a community and made Concord my home. You always get back more than you give!

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?

Life is not linear. Don’t get tripped up on the idea you need to achieve certain things by a certain time or even at all.

What would make New Hampshire more attractive to young professionals?

A good starting place would be higher wages and career advancement opportunities, affordable housing, expanding arts and culture opportunities, and the mind set that these things benefit the state as a whole and not just the young professional.

What would you like to be doing when you’re 40?

Since 40 is just around the corner I hope to be doing what I am doing now and be a little wiser.

What was your last major achievement?

Successfully completing my first year as a first-time executive director.

Volunteer activities: Concord Young Professionals, Vice Chair; Intown Concord, Board of Directors; GoodLife Programs & Activities, Board of Directors; Amplify Concord, Board of Directors; Pride Concord, Board of Directors; New England Foundation for the Arts, Advisory Council Member.
